How many subjects does CBSE consider for calculating percentage for class 12?4 or 5 subjects?

In CBSE, a student can have either 5 or 6 subjects in total. For the purpose of result, the final score is calculated by adding up the marks of all the subjects that a candidate has opted for.
If a candidate has 5 subjects say English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Fine Arts.
You total score will be calculated out of 500 including all the theory and practical marks of all 5 subjects as applicable.
Let us take the example-
English : 98/100
Physics : T - 64/70 P - 30/30
Chemistry : T - 65/70 P - 30/30
Biology : T - 68/ 70 P - 30/30
Fine Arts : T - 40/40 P - 60/60
So your total percentage will be : 98 + 94 + 95 + 98 + 100 / 500 * 100 = 97%
Simillarly if you have opted for 6 subjects, then total percentage will be calculated out of 600.

It also depends college to college and course to course... You should first see in which college or course u want to opt...
