Steps to Becoming a Police Officer

Obtain high school diploma or GED.
Meet other minimum requirements.
Obtain a bachelor's degree (optional)
Pass the law enforcement entrance exam.
Graduate from the police academy.
Work toward a promotion.


IPS Exam, which is a part of UPSC exam. Eligibility Criteria are:
Physical Criteria:
Height: 160165cm for men and 145150cm for women. With good eye sight.
Nationality: Being an Indian is must.
Educational Qualification: A candidate must hold a Bachelor's degree from any recognized university or possess an equivalent qualification.
Age Limit : Minimum age 21 years Maximum age 30 years as on 1st of August in the year of examination.
Number of attempts: A person who comes under General category can attempt 4 times; where as OBC can attempt 7 times and SC/ST candidates have no restrictions.
