In order to become a professor at any engineering college one needs to have completed their B.Tech and M.Tech in a particular specialization in any reputed institute and also needs to have qualified GATE with a decent score which is usually much more than the cutoff marks for GATE. Once the candidate satisfies the above criterion, he/ she needs to check for an opening at any engineering college or the engineering college of the candidate's choice. Post this step, if the candidate is suitable then he/ she is hired for the post of Assistant Professor/ Lecturer. After working on this position for sometime the candidate is usually promoted to Professor and this promotion is based upon the performance of the employee.
