To get into any design institutes you would have to write mainly NIFT, NID DAT, AIEED, if you want to join courses like Fashion design, textile design, Bachelor of design, Apparel design, etc.

NIFT

NIFT stands for National Institute of Fashion Technology. Unfortunately, they conducted their exam for BFtech and Bdes courses for this year on January 20. The notification for NIFT was received on October 2018.The results came on March 6.

The Eligibility criteria included that the candidate should not be over the age of 23 on October , 2018 and must have qualified 10+2 exams from any valid institute.

The weight age for CAT(Creative Ability Test), GAT(General Ability Test), and situation test written exam is 50%, 30%, and 20% respectively for Bdes ; and for BFtech it is 100 % for GAT.

The colleges accepting NIFT score are:

• NIFT, Bengaluru
• NIFT, Bhopal
• NIFT, Chennai
• NIFT, Gandhinagar, and all other NIFT's

NID

It stands for National Institute of Design. They conducted their exam for Bdes and MDes courses on January 6. The last date to fill their form was on November 15, 2018. The online advertisement for DAT exam conducted by NID was received on October 1, 2018.

The Eligibility criteria included that the candidate must have qualified 10+2 exams from any valid institute.

The test for BDes exam is conducted in 2 phases. For phase 1 the candidate’s ability for Design Problem Solving, Visual Sense, Observation & Perception, communication skill, etc is checked.

For phase 2 studio test is conducted in 3 parts, for 3D modeling, doodling, and observation test.

The colleges accepting NID DAT score are:

• NID, Ahmedabad
• NID, Gandhinagar
• NID, Bengaluru
• DJAD, Coimbatore, etc

AIEED

It stands for ARCH College of Design & Business. It issued the form of application for Bachelor of design course on October 1, 2018. The GAT was completed in two stages in February, and the results are to be declared after seven days of completion of all stages.

The Eligibility criteria included that the candidate must have qualified 10+2 exams from any valid institute, candidates qualified NIFT and NID are eligible to apply directly to Interaction and portfolio round.

The candidates are selected on the basis of their CAT and Gat score together.

The colleges accepting AIEED score are:

• ARCH College of Design & Business, Rajasthan
• Virtual Voyage College Of Design, Media, Art And Management, Indore
• Apeejay Stya University, School Of Design and Visual Arts, Gurgaon
