How to take admission in class ukg
The academic year 2026-27 has already begun in most parts of India, and the admission process for UKG (Upper Kindergarten) is currently in its final stages or ongoing for mid-term entries.
Age Criteria (The "5+ Rule")
Under the New Education Policy (NEP 2020), the age rules have become stricter to ensure children are 6 years old by the time they reach Class 1.
-
UKG Age: Your child should be 5 years+ as of March 31, 2026.
-
Typical DOB Range: Born between April 1, 2020, and March 31, 2021.
2. Required Documents
You should keep the original and photocopies of these ready:
-
Birth Certificate: The most critical document for age proof.
-
Aadhaar Card: Both for the child (Baal Aadhaar) and parents.
-
Proof of Residence: Electricity bill, Ration card, or Rent agreement.
-
Photographs: Carry 8–10 recent passport-size photos of the child and 2–3 of the parents.
-
Transfer Certificate (TC): If the child was previously in LKG at a different school.
-
Health Record: Vaccination card or a basic fitness certificate from a paediatrician.
3. Admission Steps
Most schools in Jharkhand (Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Dhanbad, etc.) follow this flow:
-
Enquiry/Registration: Visit the school website or office to buy the admission form.
-
Interaction: UKG admissions rarely involve a "test." Instead, there is usually a "Child Observation" (where teachers check basic motor skills and colours/alphabets) and a "Parent Interaction."
-
Document Verification: The school checks your original documents against the photocopies.
-
Fee Payment: Once selected, you must pay the admission fee and the first quarter/month fee to secure the seat.
