My experience of CAT 2017 as I appeared for the exam in the first slot in a TCS exam centre in Noida.
Though the first slot of CAT 2017 started from 9 AM and concluded at 12.00 noon, I was made to get inside the exam centre by 8.00 am.
The formal identification processes and other formalities took around half an hour and I was comfortably sitting on my testing seat a well 15 minutes in advance. I fillin in my login and the test was ready to begin as soon as the clock ticked 9.
The difficulty level of the test was moderate. Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning was the toughest section followed by Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension. Quantitative Ability was the easiest among all.

Quant: The difficulty level was moderate this year. Quant was very easy. Basically 10th level questions from -time distance, percentage, ratio proportion, work and time, Log, numbers, quadratic equation etc Most of the questions were from Arithmetic, which could be a big gain for non-engineers. Therefore, I think the cut off for QA section this year will go up. The Quant section difficulty level was that of 10th standard. The section had questions from different topics including numbers, percentage, numbers, progression, profit & loss and ratio & proportion. Students have claimed the questions were easily manageable and were not time-consuming at all.
DI LR: It was a bit difficult. Questions were lengthy. A few questions very tricky. About 25 question were based on Chart and graphs. the DI & LR section had 8 sets with 4 questions each which were quite indirect and tricky in nature. It is expected that the cut off for this section will fall down quite a lot. The Data Interpretation questions were from Tables, Bar Graph and Charts, Line Graph and the Logical Reasoning questions were in the form of caselets. Four sets were completely MCQ whereas the remaining four were a combination of TITA and MCQs.
VA RC: This section was moderate. It had 22 questions from five passeges - A total five comprehensions. 5 questions from para jumbling and 5 questions from 'odd sentence out'. The questions are likely to be direct or inference based. TITA or non-MCQs will be from the Verbal Ability or English Usage area. However, the English Usage questions are likely to be of easy to moderate level of difficulty.
