How we can go to space. Astronaumical engineering can satisfy this
Hi Alfiya,
It is so good to see someone so inclined towards outer space adventures. There are so many possiblities and ways you could take to get yourself out there but i don't think Astronaumical Engineering is one. See going in space you'll stay in the space station or your rocket supposedly so whatever the rocket needs has to be fulfilled by the traveller in it. So generally a team has members from different field and expertise. You can be an Electronics and Communication engineer and be there. Aeronautical engineer is definitely one. So you just have to be at the peak of your game and qualify there test and be a fit candidate to be out there. They actually have a training program too. If a Planet exploration is on the way someone who has the expertise in Bio Technology can also fill in the place. You never know, even being an Aeronautical Engineer may not lead you there, you just have to be determined in whatever you do.
Good Luck!!
Dear aspirant,
A degree is obviously needed but that doesn't make the cut. Often most students think that a degree in astronaumical or some study related to space will make the cut. There are interviews that one has to crack and not a single question in that interview will be related to any course or subject, the main quality that is needed in an astronaut is their ability of psychological calmness, teamwork and problem solving ability as well as determination. Most astronauts picked up in the interviews had poor background where their scholarships from government agencies helped them to finish their education with wonderful grades. Such determination is needed in any aspirant.
"The fact that I applied to become an astronaut 15 times has not been lost on my friends, followers, or fans," wrote retired astronaut Clay Anderson in his biography, “The Ordinary Spaceman,” as quoted in Popular Mechanics.
In the above quote, one should not note that he failed 14 times but he passed in the 15th time. Patience is what got him through the rounds of defeat. He didn't give up and tried and tried and tried. Such qualities will make the cut for NASA or any space agency.
So to wrap it all up, yes getting a degree will ever so slightly boost your chances but your true nature and qualities will be responsible to send you up there in space.
hi alfiya,
Aerospace engineers can go to space. but usually aerospace engineers evaluate the spacecraft and aircraft they design using computer technology and inspections conducted in testing facilities.
“Space” may be in their job titles, but aerospace engineers don’t focus only on spacecraft. They also design missiles, satellites and aircraft. They’re responsible for developing new technology and refining existing technology to make it safer or more efficient.
Aerospace engineers choose between astronautical engineering and aeronautical engineering career paths. Astronautical engineers concentrate on spacecraft and associated technology, while aeronautical engineers work on aircraft design and enhancement.
hope it helped you
Hey Alfiya,
It doesn't matter at all. As I have seen in past year astronauts belong to different field but Moreover are choosen from ARMY. Mostly Air Force as well. The reason they choose army personnel is due to there practice and strength. They are already qualified and even then the best is chosen.
Best Of Luck
