see to prepare for any exam you need to first go through the detailed syllabus, questions pattern, analyse the previous years papers. since you are an engineering aspirant, you have to select the stream in gate paper which you want to attempt, gate form filling would begin on september 2 , now you have around 5 month left. so now you need to buy the previous years questions booklet and start solving papers. work on the areas which you have difficulty.
currently there is various online free lectures available in internet which you may follow for preparation.
