Being an average student won't affect your chances of being recruited by good companies as long as you satisfy the eligibility criteria. At the end all that matters is how your critical thinking skills are and how you showcase them in front of the interviewers. Sometimes the toppers Don't get the best jobs while average students get the highest package. So, don't stop yourself from anything on the basis of marks you score.
Academics do matter but they are not the only criteria for the selections.
