Genarally, the minimum eligibility criteria that most of the reputed institutes demand is 60% marks in aggregate ( can be less if you belong to reserved category) in 10+2. If you score the minimum score, your drop year wouldn't be a handicap.
However, you will have to appear in entrance exams for admission. For example, to get into NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs you need to clear JEE Main; and JEE Advanced in case of IITs. That is not all as miniumum aggregate requirement in case of these institutes is 75% marks or you must be ranked in the top 20 percentile in your board exam.
Meanwhile, to get admission into BITS Pilani, you have to appear in BITSAT. MU OET is conducted for admission to Manipal Institute. In fact there are many other exams you may take - SRMJEE, VITEEE, VTUEEE, etc.
