i am archetecture aspirant and i would like to know how to get into the stream via NATA and if there are any courses to take up with?
Hello,
First of all, it is really good that you have decided your career. Architecture is one of the best fields in engineering, it involves both designing and constructing work of art buildings and other structures.
In India, there are two entrance examinations which you can give to get into the 5-year B.Arch or B.Plan. courses. These are NATA and JEE Main Paper-2.
NATA includes most of the colleges in all over India, including state govt. and private colleges except IITs, NITs which consider JEE Main Paper-2 as the required entrance.
But do remember giving NATA (i.e. if you are not into IITs etc. otherwise you have to give JEE too) is mandatory for all colleges. Not even a private college is allowed to give admission without this.
Now coming to the details of NATA 2019: -
Eligibility Criteria-
1. Secured at least 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and also at least 50% marks in aggregate of the 10+2 level examination;
2. Or passed 10+3 diploma examination with Mathematics as compulsory subject with at least 50%marks in aggregate.
Note: It is mandatory for admissions to B.Arch to be from PCM stream and score the requisite percentage.
Other than this, no further criteria had been given for 2019.
Exam schedule-
This year 2 NATA exams will be held. It is not mandatory to give both the exams but suppose if you give both papers, then your best marks out of these will be considered. Otherwise you can give only one of these.
First exam will be on 14.04.2019(Sunday) and Second exam will be on 07.07.2019 (Sunday).
Both the papers will be of total 200 marks having sections-
• Mathematics (MCQs)consisting of 20 questions and carrying 40 marks.
• General Aptitude (MCQs) consisting of 40 questions carrying 80 marks
• Drawing section consisting of 2 questions carrying 80 marks
The first two sections i.e. Mathematics and general aptitude will be 1-hour online test.
Drawing test will be offline of 2-hours and will be given on A4 sheet.
Marking scheme-
In sections of Mathematics and general aptitude, for every correct answer 2 marks will be awarded.
There is no negative marking.
For drawing test, it will be given marks by examiners.
