A candidate can give JEE Mains 6 times in his lifetime. 2 times per year for consecutive three years starting the year in which you're completing your 12th standard. Even if you're studying in some college you're still eligible to give JEE Mains. If you're in 1st year then it means you still have some chances left. So you can give JEE.
