Admissions into M.Tech courses in IITs is based on GATE scores. You will be required to qualify GATE after which you will have to apply to the IITs. Along with application to the individual IITs, the candidates will also have to register at GATE COAP which acts as a common platform from where the candidates can select their preferred choices from the admissions offered to them.

You can pursue M.Tech by clearing one of the national level entrance exams i.e. GATE. The entrance exam is jointly organised by IITs & IISc Bangalore for admission in M.Tech/ Ph.D./ M.E.. GATE 2018 will be conducted on February 3, 4, 10 & 11 in online mode by IIT Guwahati.

I would recommend you to check the eligibility of GATE 2018 before applying for the same. The application form of GATE 2018 will be available from September 1, 2017 onwards.
