I am finishing 12th this year. I am writing clat . What is the criteria to become a cooperate lawyer cause I am a science student
Dear Radhika,
Let me congratulate you for being so focused! Even before taking the exam, you have set your eyes on your ultimate goal, which shows how optimistic you are.
Once you complete your 5-year LLB and do some internship, you will be ready to become a corporate lawyer. However, to become one, you need certain qualities which can be groomed while in college.
First, hone your research skills. You must have the ability not only to search for infomation, but also know where to find the information. Secondly, a corporate lawyer must have knowledge of all branckes of the law. You will have to deal with clients on a daily basis, so you must be able to connect with them, give a patient listening, understand the problems and give solutions. Another important skill that you must develop is a flair for writing. A corporate lawyer's life is different from that of a litignat lawyer and hence you will have to write and make agreements and for this good writing skills are necessary.
You can also think of doing an MBA after 5-year integrated LLB to upgrade your skills.
Did this answer help you? You can revert if you have any more doubts. Now it's time for you to concentrate on your board exams and cracking CLAT. Hope you do well in both. All the best!!!
