I am from st category in what percentile can I get admission in nit
Hello Vishal,
For candidates belonging to the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category, admission to the National Institutes of Technology (NITs) through JEE Main typically requires a lower percentile compared to candidates from the General category due to reservation policies.
- For top NITs and popular branches, ST category students typically require a percentile above 80-85.
- For other NITs or less competitive branches, a percentile between 70-80 might be sufficient.
Hope it helps !
Hello,
Percentiles required to get admitted to an NIT as an ST category candidate vary very highly, institute to institute, branch to branch, and also the competition in that academic year. In short, NITs have different cutoff ranks for each category, and reserved seats lessen the required percentiles from the ST candidates vis-à-vis general category students.
Typically, a percentile of 90-95 may be required to get admission in an open category in popular branches such as Computer Science or Electronics. For ST candidates with somewhat lower percentiles like about 70-85, admission is possible in some NITs based on the cutoff and demand in that particular branch.
It would be sensible to get specific cut-offs for the NITs of interest, as these cut-offs are liable to change from year to year with respect to the number of applicants and available seats. Look out for the announcements made by the NITs during the admission process for accurate information.
