I am getting 84 marks in jee main and I am from OBC and not sure of 75% in 12th.wheter I drop a year or not.

If you want to take admission in private colleges you can get good private college in states like: Haryana, UP, West Bengal, Punjab, Rajasthan, Maharashtra. Most of the states have reservation for other state students in private colleges based on JEE Main score/rank. You need to apply separately for them.
If you are determined to take admission in NITs then you can drop a year otherwise you can take admission in private colleges.
