Dear Sebasish,
Hotel Management is an under graduate level programme and PGDM is of post-graduate level.
Therefore, you need to specify whether you have joined Hotel Management programme after doing gradutation or not. If not, then you need to complete your Hotel managment programme to be eligible for admission in any PGDM programme.
In case, you are already a graduate and pursuing Hotel Management as second degree, you are eligible to apply for PGDM programme. For this you will need to appear in selected MBA entrance exams to get admission opportunity in your choice of institutions.
You should, however, take this decision based on your interest. If you are interested in Hotel industry, an Hotel Management degree can also lead you to similar job profiles which are available for MBA graduates. With a Hotel Management degree, you can also have opportunity to work in other service sectors and allied industry. For example, aviation, tourism etc offer various jobs for graduates in Hotel Management.
In case you are not interested in taking up jobs in Hotels or allied domains in the service sector, you should opt for a PGDM programme which will open a plethora of opportunities for you across sectors as the job profile offered for students of MBA/PGDM is related to generic administrative, managerial and leadership skills. Your passion for a sector or a profile should be the main deciding factor.
Hope this helps!
