Dear aspirant, some top B-schools in India asks a candidate for work experience while other don't ask for such. For examples take case of IIM's which are India's premier institue for management. If you have work experience you will have a plus point on that, so your overall PI score will improve. But mostly seen in previous years the toppers of CAT were freshers that didn't have any work experience.
hope this will help.
for more queries, feel free to post it in comment section below.

dear aspirant,
Work experience is recommended but not mandatory for selection. There are significant numbers of freshers in every batch.
That said, having a year or two of work experience not only helps admission to most colleges but also gives you a better understanding of a few subjects you will study in the course.
many business schools offer MBA admission without GMAT score if candidates have a good number of years as experience.
WORK EXPERIENCE IS THE JOB WHICH YOU DO AFTER COMPLETETING YOUR GRADUATION .NOT DURING IT.
Hope this helps.
