I am in obc cast . can I take admission in open for NIT
Hello student,
I am not getting exactly what you are trying to ask, are you asking that can you get seat from Open category or not if you are OBC caste?
If this is not your question then do let me know in the comment section.
See, being an OBC, you can apply in General or Open category and there is no problem at all, however if you want vice versa then it cannot be done at any cost.
If you do not want to take benefits of reservation then simply fill Unreserved category in your Category section while filling the application form for JEE Main.
But you should note that once you filled your category in your application, you have to be on that only and do not not think to change it further.
In one other case also you can get seat from OPEN category and that is let us suppose you failed to provide your OBC certificate during counseling then too, you cannot avail reservation and you will be considered as General category student.
I hope this answer helps you.
All the very best!!

Hello Aspirant,
Yes of course you can take admission in NITs under Open/Unreserved category though JEE-Main but note that if you do so then you won't be able to get the reservation benefits of OBC category like :
>> 27% reserved seats
>> lower cut-off as compared to unreserved/open category
>> Some other fee related schemes.
