Government colleges, Government Sponsored Self Financing Colleges, and Private Self Financing Colleges located in the state of Kerala participate in KEAM. You can find that list here: https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/keam-participating-institutes.
The reason they participate is because they are affiliated and recognised by the State Government of Kerala. And there is a standard procedure set for Fees in these colleges. There might be other fees included but the turion fees will almost be the same. Any institution that doesn't participate in KEAM, has no control over the fees and that doesn't come cheap. And then the placements also become an issue because almost every company wants to hire candidates who have studied from a Recognised University. And to be honest, Government colleges have the most affordable fees structure. So, if I were you and I have a budget constraint, I would appear for KEAM and aim for Government colleges.
