I am persuing Btech in Mechanical Engineering, so is it necessary that i have to appear for ME paper of GATE only?

Yes you can appear any paper of your preferences and brsnch you want to lursue Mtech into.
No such limitations on particular paper.
However, students nust b ein either final year or must be graduate to appesr for GATE.
