i belongs to ece and i got 496 and open category any chances for mtech in iits or nits

Hi Tharun, the cutoff varies every year based on various factors like number of seats available number of test takers difficulty level of exams etc. Please mention the department to which you belong to based on which I can guide it accordingly. Basically it is very tough for general category students to ace IITs with this score. Even for NITs may be some very new NITs have slight chances.

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a national-level post-graduate entrance exam that is jointly conducted by the seven IITs (Bombay, Delhi, Kanpur, Guwahati, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee) and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore for admission to M.Tech programmes offered by government as well as many private institutes.

GATE 2019 was organized by Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras in online mode on February 2, 3, 9 and 10, 2019.

With your score and open category, sorry to say but you won't be able to get any IIT or good NIT.

You should try for other colleges taking admissions through GATE scores.
