i completed Ba from ambedkar open university, how to convert grades into percentage iam applying for cat exam and it asking for percentage amd there is no official coversion formula in website and they are not responding what should i do if anyone knows plz helpp
Hello Student,
Your situation is understandable, and you should not guess a percentage for the CAT application when your university has not published an official conversion formula.
For CAT , the safest approach is to follow the conversion method certified by your university. IIM admission rules also state that if a university gives only grades and no equivalent percentage, candidates should obtain a certificate from the university specifying the equivalent percentage for use in the CAT application.
Since your university has not provided a conversion formula or responded:
- Do not invent a percentage or use an unofficial formula from YouTube or other websites.
- Check all your BA marksheets, consolidated marksheet/transcript, student handbook and university regulations once again for any percentage or conversion rule.
- Send a written request to the Controller of Examinations/Registrar asking specifically for a CGPA/grade-to-percentage equivalence certificate.
- If no conversion scheme exists, keep written proof of this and contact the official CAT helpdesk/grievance channel for instructions before final submission.
- Save screenshots/emails and keep all your original marksheets ready for later verification.
The university-awarded percentage is normally treated as final; where no percentage is awarded, the applicable CAT/IIM rules and the university's certified conversion method become important.
My advice: Do not worry, but do not enter a guessed percentage. Obtain written clarification from your university or the official CAT helpdesk and retain it as proof. This will help avoid problems during IIM admission or document verification. Best Wishes!
