Hello aspirant,
No, You don't need to give the 1st year exams. In the first year of b.tech basic things are taught like in class 12. There are new topics but not much. You main subjects start from second year. So you will not face any problem. Only you need to have some basic programming knowledge. Rest of all you will be taught. It will be new for every one.
