Yes,
You have high chances of getting core branches like CSE, ME, ECE,EE, Civil in newer NITs like NIT Meghalaya, NIT Shillong, NIT Nagaland, NIT Patna etc but for old and reputed NITs, you will have to go for non-core branches like metallurgy, textile etc.
Wait till the last round to get the best seat.
