I got 77 percentile in PCB and my category is OBC. In the second final merit list, my rank is 6493. So, which colleges can I get admission to?
With a JEE Main 2025 rank of 6,493 in the OBC category, you have a good chance of securing admission to several National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs) for various B.Tech programs. For instance, in 2024, NITs like NIT Trichy and NIT Surathkal had closing ranks for OBC candidates in the range of 4,000 to 6,000 for branches such as Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) . Similarly, IIITs like IIIT Allahabad and IIIT Bangalore had closing ranks for OBC candidates around 5,000 to 10,000 for CSE . GFTIs also had closing ranks for OBC candidates up to 10,000 in previous years . While specific closing ranks for 2025 are yet to be released, your rank positions you competitively for admission to these institutes. It's advisable to participate in the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counseling process and consider various options based on your preferences and the available branches.
Hello! With a 77 percentile in PCB and an OBC category rank of 6,493, your chances of getting admission depend on the counselling rounds and seat availability. For NEET-based courses like MBBS or BDS, this rank may allow admission in some private medical or dental colleges, but admission to top government colleges is unlikely, as their cutoffs are usually much higher. You may also have options in state quota seats, government-aided private colleges, or less competitive courses like BAMS, BHMS, or allied health sciences.
With 77 percentile PCB and OBC rank ~6493, you can expect admission in average-tier private colleges for B.Sc (Biology, Biotech, Agriculture, Nursing, etc.), depending on the state.
- For MBBS/BDS, chances are very low at this percentile.
But you may get admission in:
- B.Sc Nursing (private colleges with OBC quota).
- B.Sc Agriculture (some state universities under OBC quota)
Thank you!
Hello Aspirant,
A percentile of 77 in PCB (OBC category) and an overall rank of 6493 in 2nd and final merit list stands you in good stead in government and private colleges at state level especially for paramedical, dental and B.Sc. (Nursing/Allied Health) courses. Getting MBBS/BDS in government colleges of your choice may be more difficult at this rank but you can expect options in:
- Private medical and dental colleges under OBC quota
- BAMS, BHMS, BPT, Nursing, and other allied health sciences in both government and private institutes
- Some state universities and deemed universities with OBC reservation may also consider this rank
The ultimate allotment is influenced and depends upon the cut -off and number of seats in state counselling, along with reservation for each category. Please keep your options open while filling your choices so that you maximize your chances.
