Hello Student, In JEE mains conducted for September 2020, 77.9 percentile would roughly mean you have scored a mark of 47 out of 300. It is a bit on the lower side.
Since you have not mentioned any reservation, I would advise you to apply for other colleges as well. As the competition is increasing by the day, it would a bit tough to get into government institutions with this score.
