Hello
Sorry to say but your percentile is to low for getting into a government college.
You can only get into a private university with this much percentile.
Thank you and all the best for your future.

Hello Abhinav
Almost 10 million students give JEE Main exam every year and only 2 lakhs students get selected to give the JEE Advanced. While though JEE Advanced you can take admission only in IITs and IISC, but through JEE Main you can take admission in NITs, GFTIs and many private institutions. From the year 2019, when JEE Main is held twice a year there is an increase in the competition. Students are trying their best to get admission in top colleges. Though JEE Main is easier than JEE Advanced most of the admission in colleges other than IITs are done through it. Due to the increase in competition, the opening and closing ranks in colleges are generally high. Also, there is no reservation for general category except ews so, taking admission in a government college with good rank is the only way. The seat matrix is entirely depended on the exam difficulty level. If the exam is tough you can get one of the good branches in government colleges without any difficulty. You got 79 percentile so,according to the previous jee mains cutoff, your rank is pretty high ( more than 1.5 lakh). With such rank your probability of getting admission in central government college is low.
With this rank either you will get college not according to your choice or branch not according to your choice. With this rank you will get admission in branches like production and designing, instrumentation engineering in few GFTI. Also, you can get such branches in new NITs which are established 5 - 10 years ago. Such NITs doesn't have proper infrastructure. You can also try getting admission in state government colleges. To check which college and which branch you can get you can use Careers360 college predictor tool.
You can check here:

Hope this helps.
Hi Abhinav,
You have obtained 79 percentile in JEE Main. Based on this percentile you Common Rank list (CRL) rank would be between 211000 to 233000 ( or rathe more correctly 222000 approximately).
Since you are from general category it is very hard for you to get better government college like NITs and IIITs. Nevertheless you can use our college predictor tool to check your options available by clicking on following link:
All the very best.
Hey,
I understand your problem but It is quite a difficult task to predict college in such a rank. I recommend you to go to careers360 rank predictor and evaluate yourself. I think that it will be quite helpful to you. In case of any difficulty then write in QNA section.
