I got 95 percentile ,shall I drop a year or take any branch in nit

I got 95 percentile in jee mains ,but I want good branch in good iit,shall I drop a year,please say me

Hello Aspirant,

First of all, it is not that you can do best in Engineering in only IITs/NITs. There are many great other Government/private colleges which are prestigious. E.g. COEP, VJTI, etc Govt. colleges. In fact, colleges like BITS or IIIT Hyderabad are far better than some of the bottom NIT. So it is not that private colleges are not good. Also, some private colleges affiliated to Pune University are really good (e.g. VIT, PCCOE, PICT, etc.). If you have talent and determination, you can succeed anywhere and put in any place. Never ever let your determination go. That will put you up in any circumstances of life.

If you have selected the stream of your choice and see yourself working in that stream I would suggest don't compromise with the stream you are getting in IITs and NITs. Now, dropping a year will take a high level of focus and attention to really make it count so if you think you are capable of making it count and losing a year won't matter much to you then you can drop a year otherwise you can go with some great private colleges with stream of your choice as I already mentioned above.
