i got 98 marks in jee main.. My category rank is 649 ST quota.. Can i expect to get into top 5 nit's..?

Yes there are good chances in Top NITs but high chances in some average ranked NITs

Yes, you can get into the top five NITs very easily. All depends on your branch and also on the fact that the NIT is in your home state, or it is other state for you.
