I got Admission in jspm tathawade clg for mechanical engneering in pune , actually i want it so i put only mechnical options and thats why i got it . but genuinely tell me what is the actual scope and placements for this branch or i have taken wrong desicion
Hello Student,
First of all, I don't think you have taken a wrong decision simply because you chose Mechanical Engineering. If you genuinely wanted Mechanical and selected only Mechanical options, that is actually a meaningful choice. The important thing now is to understand the career reality and plan accordingly.
Mechanical at JSPM Tathawade — honest picture
- The Mechanical department has been running since 2002 and has NBA accreditation, 15 laboratories/workshops, a Centre of Excellence in Robotics & Automation, CNC/VMC facilities, and industry collaborations. The department also offers an Honours track in e-Mobility and Robotics & Automation.
- Overall college placement numbers are considerably stronger than the Mechanical-specific figures, so don't assume the college's highest package applies to Mechanical students.
What is the actual scope?
Mechanical is not a dead branch. You can build careers in:
- Automobile & EV
- Manufacturing
- Robotics & Automation
- CAD/CAM/CAE
- Aerospace
- Production & Industrial Engineering
- Mechatronics
- Energy
- Design engineering
- Government/PSU jobs
- Higher studies (M.Tech/MS/MBA)
The key difference is that Mechanical requires you to build practical skills beyond the college syllabus.
My honest advice
- If you actually like machines, automobiles, design, manufacturing, robotics or engineering, I would continue with Mechanical rather than changing just because CSE has higher placements.
My verdict:
- JSPM Tathawade Mechanical = decent option, but not a branch where you should depend entirely on campus placements. With strong technical skills + internships, you can create a very good career.
Best wishes. We hope that you understand things now!
