I got selected in First level NID got rank 300.i still confused taking B.des in NiD or B.Tech in Maniapl
Hello srihari murthy ,
Designing VS Engineering???!! Choosing among these is either too simple or too tough!
In your case it seems tough i guess. You have cleared NID first level. you gave this exam which clearly suggest that you are interested in designing or you are good at it. See, choosing between these is simple if you go according to your interest.
But here I can give you information regarding the two colleges, rest choice is yours.
I will compare based on few parameters.
1) Brand : NID is a national institute, it has a far better brand than manipal.
2) Job : Several graduates tend to start their own studio. According to LinkedIn, 377 out of 3500 graduates are Entrepreneurs. Popular companies (based on no. of NIDians employed) are Cognizant, Microsoft, SAP, Adobe, Samsung, Godrej, HFI etc.
Now see there are several branches of designing like textile etc. and your package depends on your skills. Designing still has demand in the market. butb if you would do it without interest you would land nowhere.
Now taking Manipa l into consoderation:
MIT, Manipal do offers a good oppurtunity to land onto a good company. But Engineering and designign is completely different field to compare.
To conclude : Job you will get will be based on your skills you have and without interest you wont be able to focus on the course you are persuing.
3) Entrepreneurial Opurtunities : NID have upper hand on that. Several graduates tend to start their own studio. According to LinkedIn, 377 out of 3500 graduates are Entrepreneurs.
4) College Life : MIT manipal has a lot of things to deviate you from your studies. in NID that will be controlled because peer group in NID will be more refined as compared to MIT Manipal.
5) Peer Group : NID! NID! NID! hand down.
6) Teaching : NID here too have an upper hand over Manipal. I'm not telling that manipal dont have good teachers but ofcourse teaching quality in NID will be better than MIT manipal.
7) Ranking : Manipal Institute of Technology was ranked 12th among engineering colleges in India by India Today in 2017, 15 among engineering colleges by OutlookIndia in 2017 and 39 among engineering colleges by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) in 2018.
Where as NID is the top design school in INDIA and it comes in Top 100 design school of the world!!
FINAL VERDICT :
If you are interested in engineering, then there's no use to go for designing and if you are interested in design then there's no use going to a tech school.
what if you have interest in both?
Go for NID then!
Hope it answers the question! All the Best!
