i have 5.5 years of experience in engineering field. but my package is 2.6L. is it low or i am not doing well. Does recruiters off salary based on my experience or my previous package. Because as far i heard from recruiters ther start with what's your current package.

If it 2.6 Lakhs per annum then with given experience there isn't much progression in your career. You may start searching for a new job with decent package in the relevant field or field of your interest. The package that they offer depends on the role and responsibilities of the job. So it is beneficial if you apply for senior level jobs that match your skills and experience that you possess. For few jobs the salary is negotiable in such cases the salary depends on the experience of the candidate, job experience and the requirements of the company. And it depends on the company on which basis the package is offered. So it is your responsibility apply for such jobs which align with your skills, interests and package that you want.

I hope you are doing good . I would like to tell you that you have pretty decent package . You just need to switch the company which you easily will able to do due to your experience durataion . Its nothing like that recuriters offers salary on previous packaage, They have a set pay scale for a particular post you just need to impress them by your resume , try to add projects in your resume which are related to your field and start applying on linked in for the companies who have ctc 5-6lakhs, I can assure you will easily get it
