Hey Kamal:)
Thanks for reaching out!
If you have passed 12th in five subjects but failed in maths and couldn't clear it even after the supplementary exam, you don't need to repeat all five subjects again. You can register with NIOS as a private candidate and appear only for maths, this way your passed subjects are carried forward and you can appear only for the failed or improvement subject.
if your father wants you to give all five subjects again or you want to improve your marks in all subjects then you'll have to take fresh admission in NIOS using your 10th marksheet and attempt all the subjects again.Just remember, this will be considered a fresh class 12th attempt and will take atleast one academic year.
I f you want a faster route,go for maths only;if you want improvement, go for all subjects

Hello Aspirant,
If you had 6 subjects in Class 12 (Physics, Chemistry, Math, English, Hindi, Physical Education) and had an RT in Maths but did not pass the supplementary exam, there are still some options for you.
Your father has suggested that you still sit as a private candidate with 5 subjects - this can be done under CBSE rules. Here are the details.
- Private candidate means you can appear for the Class 12 board exam again without going through a regular school.
- You can select any 5 subjects, but you cannot select the one you failed (Math in your case) and you can reappear in the next board exam cycle.
- Most candidates select: Physics, Chemistry, English, Hindi, Physical Education (no Maths).
- Once you successfully complete your subjects with 5 subjects, you are Class 12 complete and can now apply for a lot of college courses (except those that specifically need Maths like B.Tech, B.Sc. Maths, etc).
