Actually yes, the companies do consider grade for b tech but it is not everything.
Work hard for GATE exam.
Crack it with good rank.
Go to Mtech or join PSU.
You will find that you have successfully reached to the best of your career potential.

Yes, it can effect your career to get placed in good companies. Mostly good companies consider your grades while giving you placements. You can try to get placed in good companies or you can go for higher study.
