i in ews category but while form submission i hadn't select and applied through open category. so now before initiation of counselling can i apply for ews.

You have not mentioned any exam in your query.If you please tell us about the exam we may help you further.In case if there is any correction window available for correcting details in the application form then you can change your category during correction period.If there isn't any window for correction you cannot change details.You may have to apply once again with new mail ID and phone number if multiple applications are allowed.
