i lent a sum of money at 10 percent p.a. interest and another sum of money at 12 percent p.a. interest. the total money i lent equals rs. 25000. at the end of the one year i received rs. 2900 as total interest . find the amount lent at 12 ercent p.a. interest
Let the amount lent at 10% be P.
So the amount lent at 12% is 25000-P.
Now, formula for simple interest is PRT/100, where P is the principal amount lent, R is the rate of interest and T is the time period (in years).
According to the question:
T=1 for both cases
P.10.1/100 + (25000-P).12.1/100 = 2900
=> 10P + 300000 - 12P = 290000
=> -2P + 300000 = 290000
=> 10000 = 2P
=> P = 10000/2 = 5000
25000-P = 25000-5000 = Rs 20000
So the amount lent at 12% interest is 20000.
