For Astrophysics you need to complete Ph.D. programs in Astrophysics need to more concrete on Mathematics, Statistics, Computer science, Culmination in the dissertation. The doctoral program generally takes 5 years or more to complete.

Both of the careers are good for the career but based on your passion decide from it.
