Common Defence Services Exam i.e CDSE is conducted every year twice for admission to IMA, OTA and AFA.
Candidates seeking admission to OTA need to appear for two papers i.e. General Studies GS and English of 100 marks each.
After written exam, those who clear the cutoff are called for SSB interview and thereafter medicals of those who clear the SSB.
A merit list of marks of written+SSB interview is than released. Those who find their name on the list join the OTA for 1 year training.
On completion of this training they join the Indian army as Lieutenant.
To prepare for CDSE exam 'Pathfinder for CDSE' by Arihant book is recommended. Also for GS part you need to start reading newspapers.
