Yes, if you were allotted a seat in KCET Round 1 but didn’t exercise any option (freeze/float/withdraw), KEA treats it as “no choice entered”, which means you forfeit that Round 1 seat. However, you are still eligible for Round 2, but not as a fresh candidate. You’ll be treated as a candidate who skipped choice entry in Round 1, so you can enter fresh options in Round 2, but your Round 1 seat is gone.
If you missed the choice entry after round 1 in KCET, then the seat allotted to you in that round will be automatically canceled. In most cases, this also makes you ineligible to continue in round 2. However, sometimes KEA gives a provision to participate as a fresh candidate in the next round, but this depends completely on their official notification. So you should regularly check the KEA website and updates to see if fresh entry is allowed in round 2.
In KCET counselling, if you were allotted a seat in Round 1 but did not exercise your choice (freeze/float/reject) within the deadline, your seat will usually be cancelled and you will be treated as not reported.
But this doesn’t completely block you from Round 2. You can still participate as a fresh candidate in Round 2, provided you follow the rules set by KEA (Karnataka Examinations Authority). However, you will have to give up the earlier allotment and compete again for available seats.
Hello Aspirant,
If you were allocated a seat in KCET Round 1 and did not exercise your option (freeze/float/withdraw), your seat will be canceled automatically and you can no longer claim your allocated seat, but you are still eligible to participate in Round 2 as a fresh candidate - but you’ll be treated as if you had not been allocated a seat previously, which means you will be subject to the new process that was based on Round 2 available seats.
Hello,
I can understand the stress you are feeling right now. In KCET counselling, if you are allotted a seat in round 1 but fail to confirm or exercise your choice within the given deadline, then usually your seat is forfeited. That means the system considers that you are not interested in the allotted seat. However, it does not completely end your chances. In most cases, you are still allowed to participate in the next round, but not exactly as a fresh candidate. You may need to wait for the round 2 schedule and carefully read the official notification. Generally, KEA gives options like “participate in further rounds” or “exit” during choice filling. Since you missed the deadline, you may fall into the category where your previous seat is cancelled but you can still re-enter in round 2 with fresh options. The safest step is to contact KEA helpline immediately and explain your situation. They will guide you better because each year rules can slightly change. Don’t lose hope, stay alert for round 2 updates, and next time make sure to complete the process within the deadline.
Thank you for asking, and I wish you all the best for your admission journey
