B.A. in Fine Arts is a 3- year undergraduate course, the minimum eligibility for which is a higher secondary certificate examination (10+2) qualification with minimum 50% marks in aggregate from a recognized educational Board. B.A. in Fine Arts is a foundation course involving concepts of various forms of visual and performing arts including painting, sculpture, architecture, music and poetry that are developed primarily for aesthetics or beauty rather than commercial application.

The undergraduate degree course often requires an area of specialization such as acting, musical theatre, ceramics, computer animation, creative writing, dance, dramatic writing, drawing, fiber, film production, visual effects, animation, graphic design, illustration, industrial design, visual arts, technical arts, interior design, metalworking, music, new media, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, stage management, or television production. Typically, a Fine Arts degree is known as a BFA or BVA (Bachelor of Visual Arts).

A degree in Fine Arts can open doors to a variety of career options such as Art Teacher, Writer, Fine Artist, Art Director, Actor, Craft Artist or Fine Artist, Multimedia Artist, Art Director, Art Teacher, Writer etc. The course incorporates instructional hours along with practical experience. Successful graduates of the course can pursue further studies and choose to major in ceramics, creative writing, graphic design, painting, photography, theater or any other fine arts discipline.

Eligibility for BA in Fine Arts

The minimum eligibility criterion required to be satisfied for pursuing the course is the successful completion of higher secondary certificate examination (10+2) from any recognized Board or Council with minimum 50% marks in aggregate (45% in some cases). There is a relaxation of 5% marks given to those belonging to reserved categories – SC/ ST/ WW/ Physically Challenged categories). Some universities demand English as one of the compulsory subjects in Class XII.

Students appearing for the +2 examination are also eligible to apply, provided they meet the eligibility criteria set by the concerned college.
