CUET has two levels: CUET UG for undergraduate programs and CUET PG for postgraduate programs. For biotechnology after 12th, you need CUET UG only . After taking CUET UG with appropriate subject combinations (typically Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Mathematics), you can apply to various central universities like Delhi University, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Banaras Hindu University, and other participating institutions offering BSc/BTech in Biotechnology. The admission process involves: registering for CUET UG, selecting universities and programs during application, appearing for the exam, checking results, participating in counseling of individual universities, document verification, admission confirmation.
Regarding biotechnology as a career choice: it's an excellent field with growing opportunities in pharmaceuticals, research, healthcare, agriculture, environmental conservation, and bioinformatics. Career options include research scientist, quality control analyst, biotech product development, clinical research, genetic counseling, and further academic pursuits ( MSc , PhD). However, for better career prospects, higher education (at least a Master's degree) is often recommended. The field requires genuine interest in life sciences, laboratory work, and research. Job prospects are promising both in India and internationally, especially with India's expanding biotech industry.
Hello,
You can choose biotechnology without JEE . JEE is not needed.
After Class 12 with
PCB
, you must appear for
CUET UG
.
CUET UG
is for
undergraduate courses
like
BSc Biotechnology
or
BTech Biotechnology
.
CUET PG is for
postgraduate courses
and is given
after graduation
, not now.
After completing your degree, you can do MSc Biotechnology through CUET PG and then go for research, PhD, or industry jobs .
Biotechnology is a
good option
if you like biology and lab work.
Better career growth comes after
master’s degree or research.
Hope it helps !
If you want to pursue Biotechnology without appearing for JEE, you can do so by taking the CUET (UG) examination, which is accepted by many central and state universities for admission into B.Sc. Biotechnology or related life science courses. After appearing in CUET and receiving your scorecard, the next step is to apply separately to the universities or colleges you are interested in, as each institution conducts its own admission process based on CUET scores. Most universities release merit lists or conduct counselling rounds, where seats are allotted according to your CUET performance, subject combination, and eligibility criteria such as Class 12 marks in Biology. Once a seat is allotted, you need to complete document verification and pay the admission fee to confirm your place. Apart from this, some private colleges also offer direct or merit-based admission without JEE, mainly for B.Sc. Biotechnology courses. Therefore, the general pathway is to appear for CUET, apply to universities accepting CUET scores, participate in counselling or merit-based selection, and then complete the admission formalities to begin your biotechnology studies.
