I want to know if any visually disable( under reservation quata)students are allowed to study in any medical college in 2019?(according to the order of supreme cour2018)
Akash, PWD is a horizontal reservation within your Category. Under Persons with Benchmark Disabilities Act, for claiming visual handicapped reservation, a Candidate can have upto 40% of disability. Beyond that, the Candidate cannot claim PWD reservation but in case, he/she gets a Medical seat, he/she cannot be denied admission. They do not qualify for PWD reservation but qualify to study Medicine. For example, if you belong to General Category and then you have PWD reservation as well, you will be considered under UR-PWD and you will be eligible for reservation accordingly. But there is no separate reservation for PWD. And having said that, there are approximately 20 Disability Assessment Centers across India. You need to undergo test in any one of these Centers to be assessed and declared eligible to claim PWD reservation. Only certificates from these centers are approved. The list of these centers is available at mcc.nic.in
