I want to know more about field of psychiatry.

Psychiatry is the medical field which is concerned with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of mental illness.

Psychiatrists are the trained medical doctors, they can prescribe medications, and they spend much of their time with patients on medication as a course of treatment. Whereas psychologists are the ones who focus extensively on psychotherapy  and treating emotional and mental suffering in the patients with behavioral intervention.To become a psychiatrist , MBBS is the basic qualification to study psychiatry.After completing the degree,one can attend PG Medical entrance exams and take MD in psychiatry which is a three year course. Diploma course in psychiatry or DNB Psychiatry can also be taken to become a psychiatrist. A psychiatrist earns an average salary of INR 854,586 per year.
