Plant breeding is a manipulation of plants to yield desired plant types that are better suited for cultivation. This is a part of Green Revolution. Plant breeding can be through varipus types. By collection of variability; by collecting and preserving the crops of variety and this can be done through Forest reserves, Botanical Gardens and Seed banks. Evaluation and selection of parent plants helps in identifying the plants with desired qualities and then send them for hybridization. Here the pollen from a male plant is dusted over a female plant. The resultant plants are then gathered and self pollinated until there is an emergence of uniformed characters. This might take several generations of plant cultivation. These are then tested for their outcome and their performance is recorded. The most commonly tested hybrid crop is Wheat, Sugarcane, Millets, Cauliflower, Chilli, Okra, etc. Now Goa's soil is mostly alluvial and loamy and is rich in minerals and conductive for agriculture. And Goa is a tourist place where your crop can be bought there itself. Initially it might take a while for you to stabilise yourself in this field but with proper infrstructure, you should be able to make it successful. But this is going to be a long process. Patience is the key factor. There is already an ICAR Research complex in Goa and they can help you further.

Hello,
Plant breeding has very little or no scope in Goa .You can definitely try some other states (even they are few) for building your career as a plant breeder.
