Dear Nizamuddin,
As per DTE Maharashtra eligibility criteria, candidates whose either of the parent/or both parents are Government of India or Government of India Undertaking employees can apply and appear for MHT CET 2018. But, either of parents should be posted and reported to the duty in Maharashtra before the last date of MHT CET 2018 application form submission. Your daughter will be eligible for the quota seats only reserved for central government employees' children and not for all the seats. As per your words, I assume that you have recently joined your duty in Maharashtra. Also, the parents posting area should fall within the jurisdiction of the respective University/institute area where your daughter is seeking admission. The candidature type of your daughter would be Type C. The application form of MHT CET 2018 will be available from the second week of February, so keep a track of the application form around that time.
At the same time, if you are a resident/domicile of Maharashtra state or your daughter's education of 10 years, including 10th and 12th is from any school in Maharashtra, then your daughter is eligible for all seats in any college.
For admission to Government Colleges in Pune (which are participating in MHT CET 2018), your daughter has to apply during choice filling/counselling/seat allotment of MHT CET 2018, but again the clause of your duty in the jurisdiction of the respective university/college will be applicable there.
For JEE Main, there are no such resrtictions. So your daughter can apply for JEE Main, as the admission to IITs and IIITs is based on All India Quota, no state candidate is given preference. However, in NITs 50% seats are reserved for the candidates who belong to the state where an NIT is located, while the rest 50% seats are offered in All India Quota or to candidates from all the other states, except the home state where in NIT is located.
Keep asking if you wish to know more
Yes, your child will be eligible for government engineering colleges in Maharashtra if you are government employee and serving in the state of Maharashtra.
