Definitely yes, it is a good branch . The number of student's reading this branch is quite less whereas job opportunities in this field is too high. Due to lack of eligible people in this field the salary of people reading this branch is also too high.

There are several opportunities. Veg Oil refining, Vanaspathi, Soap / Detergent/Cosmetics Industries, Oleo Chemical Industries, Surfactant Manufacturers are all potential employers for a serious student in this stream. My personal opinion is that while several institutes offer this program, depth is currently lacking. Also, students are not taking the Summer Internship seriously.
there are also some opportunities in Lipid synthesis etc. But these are very few in number.
