If after applying for EWS certificate, the family income got increased and not fulfilling the criteria then we are considered as EWS or not? Asking from CAT perspective.
Hello Rajat Rawat,
Following is the criteria for getting an EWS certificate:
- Annual family income must be less than INR 8 Lakhs per annum
- Agricultural land must not be more than 5 acres.
- The residential flat area should not be more than 1000 sq. ft.
The candidate is asked to produce the ITR at the time of counselling. So, if your ITR shows your income greater than 8 lakhs then you will not be considered as an EWS candidate.
HOPE THIS HELPS
Thanks for the details. I am fulfilling the criteria of EWS certificate and I have already applied for the certificate, it will be generated by next week. But my father(govt employee) may got promotion in upcoming months and his pay scale will increase. So I will be out of the criteria at that time as our family income will be greater than 8lakhs.
So, CAT will consider my EWS certificate or they will consider the current scenario and will ask for ITR of next year i.e. 2022.
I am really confused, whether to select EWS category in CAT 2021 form or not.
Thanks in advance for your reply.
