Comprehensive Guide: IIT's | NIT's | IIIT's | Foreign Universities in India
Hello Susheel,
JEE Main is conducted for UG engineering courses at NITs, IITs and CFTIs. It is also the first stage of admission into the IITs, the second and final being JEE Advanced ( B.Arch, however, have to appear in AAT as well).
The good thing for you is there are number of institutes, quite a few of them pretty good, that are open to you.
So even if you fail to qualify for JEE Main, you needn't panic. For example, if you appear in VITEEE, you will considered for admission to VIT, which is one of the better engineering institutes in the South. Amrita University is another option for you, but you need to carck the AEEE entrance test for admission.
You can also appear for entrance exams like SRMJEE and WBJEE entrance exams.
The exams and institutes are only glimpses as there are hundreds of insitutes and exams you can choose from. If you prepare hard, you have a great chance of getting admission to one of the institutes - before admission do check the institute is duly recognized and is reputed.
Regards

All the best.
You can give different competitive exams also for example VITEEE , BITSAT,Ipu exam and many other competitive exams. There are so many options for you apart from these exams also you can take admission in any private University and can start your engineering without having to give any exam
There is a also chance for students who are not doing engineering suppose for polytechnic students there is a chance for 2nd year lateral entry into the engineering colleges this is also a other option.
