The CBSE Class 12 compartment (supplementary) exam will be held in July in a single day, covering all subjects. Practical exams will also take place in July. Schools will conduct the CBSE compartment registration and List of Candidates (LOC) submission in June.
You are allowed up to three attempts for the compartment exams:
-
Immediately after the main exam (e.g., July 2025),
-
In the following academic cycle (March/April),
-
Again, later that year (July/August)
The CBSE compartment exam results are published within 3 to 4 weeks after the exam
School Candidate vs. Private Candidate: How Do You Register?
- Regular candidates must register and appear through their school.
-
Private candidates (who are not affiliated with any school) must register individually online via the official CBSE portal associated with the supplementary exams
Yes, if your final (improved) aggregate crosses 75%, you become eligible for admission into IITs , NITs , and related institutes, provided you also clear the JEE exams. However, admission into IITs via JoSAA counselling won't be provisional if your compartment result is pending at the time of seat allocation. Policy mandates that final results and the 75% criteria be fulfilled before confirmation of seats.
